2. Discuss factors affecting teaching and learning in the classroom
3. What are the different ways student learning is assessed?
This reflection post relates to these two prompts, but not either one directly. Today, the team of sixth-grade teachers was discussing the first assessment they want to employ for the school year. They began by talking about what the district expects the students to know at this point. However, this is not where they settled in the end. They determined the first assessment of the school year should be used by the teachers to measure where each student is at academically. I thought this was a great use of assessment. The teachers want to look at the assessment results, tailor the next lesson plan to target shortcomings, and continually hold themselves accountable by measuring the students’ comprehension.
